This morning, I went to the grocery store in Shawville for a few items,” said Father Basil Tanguay, who has worked as a priest in churches across the Diocese of Pembroke for 49 years.
“It should have taken me ten minutes, but it ended up taking me a lot longer than that. Everyone wants to have a little chat. That’s small town living and small town pastoring, too,” he added, laughing as he rocked back and forth in his chair.
He sat in the veranda of his Portage du Fort home, perched at the top of the hill, overlooking the town and river.
