Students forced to ‘flea’ McDowell

Dr. S.E. McDowell Elementary School cancelled classes to fumigate for an apparent flea problem in the building. Further analysis has revealed that the problem could be mites, so all fabric upholstery was steamed over the weekend and fabric chairs have been swapped out for leather ones.

Students at Shawville’s Dr. S.E. McDowell Elementary School were forced to leave as the school was fumigated on May 3 for a suspected flea problem.
However, according to Western Quebec School Board Director of buildings Pascal Proulx, after further investigation it appears the issue isn’t flea-related, but a mite problem.
