Sonya Rivington grew up in a home with an old-fashioned fire department phone line. The chief would call one number and phones in every fireman’s home would go off. She remembers the excitement she felt watching her father drop everything he was doing, pull on his boots and dash out the door every time an emergency call came in.
In 2013, Rivington decided to follow in her father’s footsteps and pursue her childhood dream of joining the Otter Lake Fire Department.
