The Way We Were:

Local News: In a very close finish after a battling contest, Renfrew Seniors defeated Shawville Seniors in hockey on the Shawville ice by a score of 11-9 last Monday evening.

The latest scores at the bowling alley final series of eliminations in the yearly programme of Shawville Bowling Club: on Tuesday the quarter finals were played with the following results: Dorothy Stanzel’s team defeated Ken Pirie, Eddie Vaughan defeated E. Dale, Norris Jones defeated by Mrs. E. Cotie; Mrs. Pirie defeated by Mrs. Turner.

Bad news for local bowlers was contained in the announcement by Mr. Emmerson Cotie that he had disposed of his four bowling alleys to Wes Moore of Arnprior.

It is hoped that sufficient time will elapse before the removal is effected for all league bowling to be wound up. Mr. Cotie plans to use part of the spacious bowling area which adjoins his store, to extend his business premises to meet increased space requirements.
