Lions groups travelled in from as far as Morrisburg, Ont., to play in the torunament, and many local players helped fill out the tournament’s numbers, too. Above, Dave King of the Morrisburg Lions Club tosses the rock.

Lions from all about filled the Shawville Curling Club on Saturday, with the hometown group taking advantage of the Annual Governor’s Bonspiel to prove their might on the ice, winning their second year in a row.
Hosting teams from as far as Morrisburg, Ont., the Shawville Lions Club saw 12 teams tossing rocks all day long, participating in a tournament that started in 1974.
Shawville Lions President James Howard explained that because they had won the 2017 edition, held in Morrisburg, they had the responsibility to plan and host the next one. Member Dalton Cluff stepped up to take the reins organizing and had seen 12 teams of Lions signed up for the tourney.
