Social Notes – April 24, 2024

Quyon - Jillian Young

Deepest sympathy to the family of Minor Chevrier, as he passed away on Apr. 19 at the age of 90. I had the pleasure of working with Minor many years ago, when I was a summer student doing groundskeeping at the Fairgrounds here in Quyon. Minor was always so helpful and kind to a young girl who had trouble starting a whippersnipper. My thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones at this sad time.
Birthday wishes are going out to Pryor Thomson on Apr. 25, and to Jennifer McBane on the 29th. Happy days to everyone celebrating this week.
The Quyon Community Association has shared the dates for two upcoming major events. Be sure to mark your calendars for the big Canada Day celebrations in Quyon on June 30, and then on Sept. 7, Community Day will be held. Looking forward to these awesome events that always bring such fun and spirit to our town.
The Quyon Legion is hosting a Barbotte Supper on Thursday, May 9. The meal will include French fries, coleslaw, a bun, and dessert. Call or text Vicky Leach at 613-296-3440 to place your order.

The Municipality of Waltham is keeping a close watch on rising river levels on the Ottawa and Black rivers. Water levels have increased significantly over the past two weeks on the Ottawa River. However, as of this date, we have not experienced any significant flooding.
Good luck to all university and college students who have been writing their exams this week. I am sure you are all ready for a well deserved break from school for the summer months.
