Quyon - Jillian Young

Congratulations to Brandon Campbell and Montana Proulx, as they tied the knot on Saturday, June 1 at the Jack Graham Community Centre in Bristol, Quebec. They were married in a beautiful outdoor ceremony, followed by a reception. The happy couple were surrounded by many family and friends who gathered to celebrate with them. Wishing Brandon and Montana all the best as they begin this new chapter together.
Last Thursday, May 30, Onslow School hosted a Literacy and Math Night, which drew a huge crowd to the school for the evening. A Scholastic Book Fair was run by the Home and School Committee, a free barbeque was offered compliments of Onslow and served up by the Quyon Lions Club, there was face painting by Stacy and Maddy for the kids, and also literacy and math activities run by the school staff throughout the evening. How wonderful to see the school bustling with activity.
Also last Thursday, Pontiac High School hosted their annual Athletic Awards Banquet, and it was great to see so many of the school’s top athletes recognized for their achievements. A special shout out to the Quyon students who were big winners on the night. Way to go.
On Saturday, Sainte-Marie’s School held a Spring Market at the Quyon Community Centre, which featured many amazing local vendors and artisans. They also had a barbeque for lunch, and the event was a terrific way to kick off the month of June. Well done to Meagan McCann and her volunteers.
Birthday wishes are going out to Carl Demell on June 7, and to my cousin Brody Platt on June 8. Best wishes to everyone celebrating this week.
Congratulations to Tristan Queale as his U13 Diablos hockey team won gold at the MaxTec tournament and to Bryce Hudson’s Horton Hornets who took the silver. In Ultimate Frisbee, Lydia Queale’s game winner secured gold for Ecole Grand Riviere. I’d also like to give a shout-out to my niece, Danica Provost, as her Flag Football team at Darcy McGee won silver this past weekend.
On Friday May 31, Patricia Power, who has been the student minister of the Quyon Pastoral Charge for the past two years, was officially ordained as a minister in the United Church of Canada. Her Ordination was held at Trinity United Church in Ottawa, and there was a great group of folks from Quyon in attendance to share in this special occasion with her. Then on Sunday, Patricia celebrated with a joy-filled Communion service at Quyon United, with the church filled with not only her congregation, but also many of her family and friends. The celebration continued afterwards with a delicious brunch served at Gavan’s Hotel. Many blessings upon Patricia as she continues her journey in ministry as an ordained pastor.
