Quyon - Jillian Young

On Saturday evening, the Quyon Community Association hosted their first-ever “Battle of the Bored” Games Night at the Quyon Community Centre. I participated on a team with my mom, my sister, and my niece, and we had a great time. There were eight different game stations, with
everything from mini-putt, a fun twist on Connect 4, a huge version of Jenga, and much more. Each round lasted 10 minutes, with two teams facing off in a round-robin style tournament. After each round, teams were awarded points based on a win, loss, or draw. In the end, two teams were tied for first place and played off in a tie-breaker game of “Roll the Pigs”. The big winners of the night were Team Bingo Wings: Becky Renaud, Morgan Hobbs, Kelsey Perrier, and Courtney Perrier. This was such a fun way to spend an evening, and I very much encourage more teams to come out and participate the next time the QCA hosts a games night. You won’t regret it.
Birthday wishes are going out to Ruby Fraser, Kirk Richardson, and Terry Hamilton, all celebrating on Mar. 27. Happy birthday to Oliver Schwartz on the 28th, to Sally Cavan on the 29th, and to Don Stanley on the 30th. We also have birthday wishes going out to Cameron Bernier and his grandpa Glen Leach, as they share a birthday on Apr. 1, and to Jenna Fleck on the 2nd. Best wishes to everyone celebrating this week.
Wishing everyone a wonderful Easter weekend. I can’t help but recall that last year, we were hit by an ice storm and many of us were without power for Easter. Let’s all hope for a less stressful, more enjoyable weekend this year. Happy Easter to all.

Our deepest condolences to the McDowell family on the loss of Charles on Mar. 18, in his 92nd year. Charles was the husband of the late Sheila and the father of Catherine (late Stuart), Joanne (Ron), late Margaret (Lee), Susan (Gary) and Chris (Kelena). He was the brother of the late Patricia.
Our sympathies for the Hodgins family on the loss of Lorn on Mar. 20, at the age of 83. Lorn was the husband of Bernice and was the father of Deborah (Brian) and the late Laurie Ann.
Our thoughts and prayers for the Brown and Horner families on the loss of Lillian on Mar. 21, at the age of 82. She was the wife of Jim and the mother of Leona (Mike) and Mark (Erin).
This year Good Friday is on Mar. 29. Good Friday is the day in which Christian churches commemorate the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ.
The Easter Vigil is usually celebrated after sunset on Holy Saturday. The liturgy is divided into four parts: the Service of Light, the Liturgy of the Word, the Liturgy of Baptism and the Liturgy of the Eucharist. The Service of Light begins with the blessing of the new fire and the lighting of the Paschal candle.
Easter Sunday is an important Christian festival, it’s when Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Bible says that Christ died on a cross on a day called Good Friday. Jesus was buried for three days. According to the Bible, Jesus was then resurrected and came back to life on Easter Sunday.
Happy Easter everyone.

Waltham - Helen Perry

Happy birthday is wished to Jaycie Henderson, who is celebrating her birthday on Easter Sunday, Mar. 31. Enjoy your special day, Jaycie.
The maple sugar harvesting is in full operation these past two weeks. With the oddly warm weather in early March, many of the locals were concerned that this 2024 harvest would be compromised. However, in spite of the early warm weather, the maple trees suddenly produced an almost unbelievable yield of maple sap overnight. At this point, no one is sure how long the run will last. We continue to wish the best of conditions to all those maple sugar makers.
I cannot believe that this is Holy week and that Easter is this coming Sunday. Hopefully, it will be warmer than it has been the last couple of days. From our house to your house we wish you a happy and a blessed Easter with your family and friends.
