Quyon - Jillian Young

On Friday, May 24, I joined with a group of friends to celebrate Caryl McCann-Cote’s 40th birthday. We enjoyed a fun dinner at Lonestar in the Market in Ottawa, then walked several blocks to the ByTowne Cinema where we had tickets to a showing of the Degrassi High movie School’s Out!, followed by a Q&A with stars Pat Mastroianni and Stacie Mistysyn who played Joey Jeremiah an Caitlin Ryan on the show. The Q&A was hosted by Stuntman Stu. We had lots of laughs and it was a great evening celebrating our birthday girl.
A Celebration of Life was held in North Gower on Saturday in memory of Steve Dale, as he passed away in August 2023 in a tragic accident. Many of Steve’s loved ones from Quyon were in attendance, and it was a special day to honour him. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of Steve’s family as they continue to grieve this loss.
A beautiful bridal shower was held in honour of Tessa Young at the home of Heather Roman and Matthew Hickey on Saturday. Tessa was surrounded by her family and friends as they showered her with gifts and good wishes. She and Chris Romain are looking forward to their big day later this year.
Belated birthday wishes are going out to Betty Kennedy, as she turned 75 on May 22, to Sheena Hudson and Hailey Berube, both on the 23rd, to Beth Lang and Meghan Foran on the 25th, and to Maryellen Young on the 27th. Happy birthday to Cowan Harris, celebrating on May 31st, to John Ramsay on June 1, and to Sydney McMurray on the 2nd. We also have birthday wishes going out to Peggy Fraser and Jen Bell on June 3, and to Rebecca Nugent on the 4th. Blessings to all celebrating special occasions this week.
This coming Saturday, Ste-Marie’s School will be hosting a Spring Market at the Quyon Community Centre from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be many amazing local vendors there, so be sure to check it out, while supporting Ste-Marie’s School at the same time.

Waltham - Helen Perry

Last Tuesday night around midnight, Mother Nature displayed a significant thunderstorm. The lighting and thunder was non-stop for about half an hour. The power fluctuated once or twice. We were spared, but quite a few people in the Valley had fallen trees and had some damage. Some were out of power until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.
Birthday wishes are extended to Gerard Labelle, who is celebrating his birthday today May 29. Enjoy your special day, Gerard.
Anniversary wishes and lots of love is wished to our dear Jodi and Mike, who are celebrating their 22nd wedding anniversary on June 1. May you share many more years of God’s richest blessings of health, happiness, love, peace and joy.
Happy birthday is wished to Lindsay Harkins-Henderson who is also celebrating her birthday on June 1. Enjoy your day, Lindsay.
