R.S. Ranch got a running start on the season, kicking off with their rodeo last weekend.
Seeing roughly 30 riders competing, guests had the chance to show off their skills in three styles of events at the Mansfield et Pontefract ranch across two days of riding.
Ranch owner and event organizer Suzie Carrier said that this was the fourth rodeo she’s hosted, and that they do it once a year because it takes quite a bit of work – starting in January – to make sure it runs smoothly.
Events began with the performance classes, starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday. In this event, participants would strut their stuff in showing off what their horse is capable of.
This first class saw nine challenges, starting with the halter class and including horsemanship, Western pleasure, musical stall, command and more.
