THE EQUITY wins a few at QCNA awards

Among the dozens of prizes awarded to English community newspapers from across Quebec at Friday evening’s gala in Gatineau, several were given to THE EQUITY for both writing and layout.
Chris Judd won a second prize in the Best Column Writing category for his weekly column Out Standing in His Field.
Charles Dickson won first prize and the Jim Bell Award in the category of Best Editorial (Local Affairs) for his editorial Making sausage in the dark published in the April 6 edition.
Dave Moore took first prize in the category of Best Editorial Page for his layout of page four in the September 7 issue, and third prize in the category of Best Front Page for his layout of the cover of the same issue, sharing credit with former editor Brett Thoms.
THE EQUITY took third prize for its special section on Shawville Fair, published in the issue of August 14, featuring the popular See you in The Equity game of matching faces to names of people who had appeared in the paper over the previous year.
