Letters to the Editor

Searching for relatives

Dear Editor,
My name is Lorraine Beauparlant and I was born on Sept. 28, 1957 at the Pontiac Community Hospital. I was given up for adoption four days later and sent to Orphelinat Sainte-Thérèse de Hull et Crèche de Miséricorde de Montréal.
Although I was very fortunate and adopted, I know nothing of my medical background. This has been a problem all of my life.
Everytime I got sick as a child, my parents could not help medical professionals because my records were sealed.
When I became an adult this frustration of not having information was passed on to me. So it has always been a long row to hoe trying to get a diagnosis and/or the right medications to help me get better in a timely manner.

Then came my children and grandchildren who have encountered the same problem when it comes to medical issues. It’s not exactly the kind of family tradition I wanted to pass along but there it is.
I have sent letters and visited Shawville and could get no answers. A long story.
As of late I’ve been ill and no one can narrow things down because of a lack of information. I’m scared and frustrated and thought that maybe there is someone in and around Shawville who can give me information.
Perhaps I have siblings, aunts, uncles or cousins who can help. I’m not asking anyone to disclose their names or the names of my birth parents and will keep everything confidential.
